“Equal parts furious and liberating, it’s clear that the future belongs to The Buoys, and we’re all just coming along for the ride”– Rolling Stone

“…the best of the Australian scene: wholly supportive of each other and striving for excellence, with much promise.” Sydney Morning Herald

The Buoys are an all-woman rock band from Sydney, Australia, celebrated for their high-energy performances and compelling songwriting. Emerging from the local DIY scene, they’ve swiftly become one of Australia’s most exciting and dynamic live acts. Blending gritty rock, punchy punk, and honest lyricism, The Buoys’ music resonates with fans both domestically and internationally.

Formed by Zoe Catterall (lead vocal, rhythm guitar) in response to the absence of gender-diverse bands in the Sutherland Shire (Dharawal Country) music scene, the band also consists of Tessa Wilkin (drums), Courtney Cunningham (bass) and Hilary Geddes (lead guitar). Renowned for their raucous and high energy live shows, the band have built a devoted following with sold out headline shows in capital cities across the country in 2024.

Since their formation, The Buoys have released a string of successful singles and EPs, leading to their highly anticipated debut album, Lustre, in 2024. The album has garnered critical acclaim, debuting at #7 on the Australian Album ARIA charts. It has solidified their status as a rising force in the Australian music scene, and was a Triple J Featured Album in July. Lustre explores themes of empowerment, resilience, and the intricacies of modern relationships, all delivered with the band’s signature raw intensity.

Known for their relentless dedication to touring, The Buoys have played sold-out shows across Australia, sharing stages with Arctic Monkeys, DMA’S, and IDLES, and have performed at major festivals like Laneway and Splendour in the Grass. Their live shows are renowned for their infectious energy, with the band engaging audiences to create unforgettable, immersive experiences.

In 2024, The Buoys embarked on their first international tour, including a showcase at The Great Escape and supporting Vacations on their UK tour. This exposure set the stage for their upcoming Lustre UK/EU Tour, marking their first headline shows in these regions. The tour aims to expand their international fanbase and connect with industry professionals abroad as they continue to push the boundaries of their sound. In 2023, the band also released the collaborative single, ‘Fight Back Time’ with Norwegian band, Sløtface, which was well-received by publications such as NME.

Driven by a passion for their craft and a commitment to bringing Australian music to the world stage, The Buoys are making a significant mark on the global music scene with their powerful lyrics, tight musicianship, and explosive live performances.
