Queer Wellbeing Pottery Sessions at Ridgeway Studios
See event details

A event on Tuesday 3rd September. The event starts at 18:30.

Come make some beautiful pottery to take home with you, soak up some queer joy, and build connections!

Did you know that working with clay is therapeutic so why not come and have a play as an act of self-care? Meet other queer folks and learn how to make a cute hand-built trinket dish or beautiful slab-built wall hanging. Then inscribe your pottery piece with your personal mantra, affirmation, or any words that motivate, inspire or move you. Humans have been inscribing meaningful text into stone and ceramics for thousands of years. There is power in solidifying your words into ceramic and having them in view everyday. A variety of font styles and sizes of letter stamps will be available to use or you can freehand inscribe. The workshop is suitable for all abilities, including complete beginners. You will receive a demonstration before being guided through all the foundational hand-building pottery skills.

This workshop is facilitated by queer ceramic artist and pottery tutor, Jasmine. After the workshop, your pottery will be left with Jasmine for her to glaze and fire for you. It will be ready to collect within a few weeks. With Jasmine's background in Psychotherapy, she is able to hold a safe and welcoming space for you to explore and express yourself through clay. Jasmine has been making pottery for a decade and teaching pottery classes for 5 years.

There will be tea & coffee provided, tunes playing, and plenty good studio vibes. Everything you need to complete the workshop will be provided - all you need to bring is your wonderful-self!
