"Bristol Transformed hosts a PWYC examination of Palestine Action’s tenacious campaign against the UK-Israeli arms trade. Fearlessly targeting banks, factories and monuments with sledgehammers and human blockades - is this the only sane response to genocide within our passive culture? "

What can we learn about effective direct action from the courageous efforts of Palestine Action?
The UK has been no stranger to outlandish displays of direct action in recent years. From the development of the Extinction Rebellion approach of extended periods of 'mass' action with lofty demands, anti-politics and 'autonomous groups' leading to the evolution of Just Stop Oil and Youth Demand. Among these Palestine Action appears to stand out in their ability to claim material wins for their cause.
Their activity has successfully shut down the production of weapons destined for use by Israel, in factories across the country for days, weeks and even permanently. They've cost Elbit systems millions in lost contracts by making companies feel the cost of doing business in Palestinian blood. Despite arrests, sentences and persistent abuse of counter terror powers by the UK state, they continue the fight against genocide in ways few others are.
Join Bristol Transformed with our guest host Narzanin Massoumi in conversation with Luxx, a leading Palestine Actionist, British-Syrian, and poet. We'll be exploring the group's strategy and tactics, their efficacy as well as the response from the State, to discover what we might learn about direct action that doesn't rely on mass engagement, whether it should be encouraged and how it fits into a broader movement.
