Burns Night Ceilidh + DJ Discobobulator at The Old Market Assembly
See event details

A gig held at The Old Market Assembly on Saturday 25th January. The event starts at 22:00.

Join us for a night bedecked in tartan and tam o’shanters, where whisky flows and floorboards shake with Bristol's very own folk ambassadors Alex Garden (Tarren), Archie Churchill-Moss (Honey And The Bear) + Michelle Holloway (Bonfire Radicals) calling the dances!

- What is a Ceilidh? A Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is a traditional Scottish social gathering featuring live music and dancing. It’s a great way to connect with others and enjoy a night of fun and entertainment.

- Dancing: Don't be intimidated by the thought of dancing! Ceilidh dances are generally easy to learn and are often taught by a caller. The caller will walk you through the steps and provide guidance throughout the dance.

- Basic steps: The most common dance steps in Ceilidh include skipping, jumping, and spinning. Don't worry if you're not a seasoned dancer, the steps are designed to be simple and easy to follow.

- Dress code: There is no specific dress code for Ceilidh, but some folks like to dress up in traditional tartan attire. Wearing shoes suitable for dancing is a must!

- Music: Ceilidh music is usually played by a live band and features traditional instruments such as fiddle and acoustic guitar. The music is lively and upbeat, with a strong rhythm that makes it perfect for dancing.

- Have fun: Above all, the Ceilidh is a time to have fun and enjoy the company of others. Don't worry too much about getting the steps right, just relax and enjoy the experience.
