Town of Cats + Buffo's Wake at The Old Market Assembly
See event details

A gig held at The Old Market Assembly on Friday 25th October. The event starts at 22:00.

Chaotic Klezmer Punks and Prog-Zumbacore festival favourites Buffo's Wake and Town of Cats rekindle their friendship after a long hard Summer. Join us for this self-indulgent musical victory tour of our favourite party town. Joined on the decks by DJ Bassie Gracie and a whole manner of assorted oddballs, and the eclectic decor collection of Brightons favourite musical organisers, Fail Better.

TOWN OF CATS
The fiercely energetic festival veterans pool their love of Afrobeat, Latin, jazz, rock, musicals and trashy 80’s pop to bring their own brand of chaos to the stage. The five part horn section wrestles the sounds from heavy guitar riffs and wild synth solos. The MC and singer prowls the stage like a wild animal, riling up spectators. They have been described as progressive Zumba-core or calypso on Buckfast from some of their sets at Glastonbury festival, Shambala and Boomtown. Fun, sweaty and often ending in nudity, Town of Cats don’t take themselves too seriously while performing like their lives depend on it.

BUFFO'S WAKE
Chaotic Klezmer-Punk – with influences from Abba to Zappa, Buffo’s Wake are guaranteed to leave you dancing like a man possessed!
Musical eccentrics, drawing from diverse backgrounds ranging from Drum n’ Bass DJ’s to classically trained string players, punks to funk players and poets to showmen, you’re never quite sure what to expect next from Buffo’s Wake.
In their time together, they have toured all over the world, finding an inspired, confused, sweaty, and often very drunk reception everywhere they go.
