Morality is an interesting thing. We adhere to it automatically and we raise banners in its name. We emblazon it across all manner of fabrics, pamphlets and across the very narratives of history itself. We build families over it, we relate to those we consider close over it and we build political systems and their revolutions on it. It is the essence of culture and counter culture. It can evoke connection and relief, disgust and vitriol.
I invite you to a brief talk and an open conversation. Looking at the key ideas in the Philosophy of it and the function of it in human evolution. The main question we will discuss however is: Is morality good for our mental health? And by extension the health of our collective emotional world?
Essentially is our distinction between good and evil ultimately good?
I have an MA in Philosophy, seven years of counselling experience as a senior member of the ACCPH and find this question one of the most important for our personal and collective lives. I really look forward to seeing you there.
