Now, this is a bucket list gig... Worm Gigs are over the moon to welcome the comeback story of 1970s Zambia, the almighty W.I.T.C.H! (We Intend To Cause Havoc)

W.I.T.C.H were the biggest rock band in Zambia in the 1970s and spearheaded a new genre dubbed 'Zamrock' fusing influences that ranged from the Rolling Stones to Black Sabbath and James Brown and mixing them with traditional African rhythms and bush village songs.

At the peak of their popularity, the band often needed police to keep fans at bay while their lead singer Jagari - whose name is an Africanisation of Mick Jagger’s - riled up crowds by stage diving from balconies and dancing manically as the WITCH’s blend of psychedelic rock and African rhythms permeated the surrounding atmosphere.

Largely unknown outside of their home country, WITCH finally got the exposure they deserved when L.A's mighty 'Now Again Records' reissued their entire discography in 2012. This allowed Jagari to play outside Africa for the first time and for a new generation of fans to discover his music. In 2016 he began a collaboration with Dutch musicians Jacco Gardner and Nic Mauskoviç, and together with them, in September 2017 WITCH headed out on its extremely successful first-ever European Tour, and have continued to flourish ever since.

Their KEXP session from last year is incredible!! Don't miss this opportunity to see these amazing songs and this comeback success story of a band in Bristol!

- Support: Holiday Ghosts -

Holiday Ghosts’ music manages to perfectly encapsulate their name: fun on the surface, haunting underneath. Formed in Falmouth on the south coast of Cornwall, this indie rock four piece play a stripped back and primitive style of rock n roll, with influences from acts such as Modern Lovers, The Clean, Violent Femmes and The Velvet Underground. Call it garagy, jangly, rock n rolly, indie, punky, poppy, whatever you wanty.

They released their album ‘Absolute Reality’ this year with Fatcat Records, which is full of the noise and texture that Holiday Ghosts love from New York Punk music and New Wave records, as well as some softer and sparse arrangements which allow for more vulnerability.
