Hello PLU Cuties...
Well, the rumours have abound that PLU parties may not be finishing after all. All we can say is that we won’t be doing many – hosting parties when stars align to treat you to a special guest or as the fire inside burns to dance with you – this will then be realized in some sort of invite to come dance with us :)
FIRSTLY: This is more for PLU first-timers but to reiterate…
We are primarily an LGBTQ+ party but welcome with open arms and legs allies, music headz, dancers who have a thorough understanding of the queer community and desire to move beyond the daily constraints and status quo placed on our minds and bodies.
Please remember: WE EMBRACE AND CELEBRATE people of all genders, races, abilities, and sexuality at our parties. This is not a tick the box statement...this is for REALS!!
Please remember and be conscious that you may have privileges that some of your PLU famalam may not be able to enjoy on a day-to-day basis and have to choose where they go to dance very carefully...show nothing but kindness, love and respect please.
We have a very special guest joining us for our first party in 9 months. An artist who we have tried to book a few times now without it quite working out. Now the stars have aligned for the incredibly talented Julienne Dessagne, aka Fantastic Twins to join us to perform live.
Make no mistake, her live performance is something you will want to dance to none-stop, and truly belongs in a club setting. We will be installing a special light show for this performance.
The Berlin-based French producer, live performing artist and label owner has been fully immersed in the world of electronic music ever since her baptism into the fold at Glasgow’s legendary Optimo Espacio nights.
Having begun her solo project under the name The Twins in 2013 before evolving into Fantastic Twins in 2017, Dessagne has assembled a mighty back catalogue, having releases on such illustrious labels as Optimo Music, Hippie Dance and Kompakt.
In fact, there’s rarely a peoplelikeusdj set that doesn’t include one of her records. Listening to Fantastic Twins on record (which we invite you to do) is always rewarding, however, listening, watching, dancing to Fantastic Twins live is altogether a better and unforgettable experience. We cannot wait to have her perform you lush PLUers.
Expect massive synth drones and swooping vocal textures. As inciting as it is intoxicating. Expect off-kilter dance music, spanning the gamut from nervous post-punk to industrial techno.
In support, we are super excited to welcome who we consider to be one of the most interesting of DJs and definitely one to watch/listen to on the local scene in Bristol. We are more than delighted to welcome Pearl to play. She will be warming you up and then some, for an extended 2 ½ hour set. Expect off-kilter, leftfield house, techers, discoid outta space soundage…all imbued with so much groove.
Closing out the evening and picking up the pace will be peoplelikeusdj…you know what not to expect ;)
