Heckler of the high, Smiter of the mighty, the man who caused a government minister to resign, became Guinness Book of Records world record holder for number of protests in 24 hours, took the police to court three times and won, changed laws on tax and protest and walked the length of the Israeli wall in the West Bank, "general rabble rouser and alleged comedian" (Met Police) Mark Thomas headlines the RIOT ACT Winter Warmer to close out January with characteristic firebrand flair.

Local Poetry Hero Lawrence Hoo, whose work documents the injustices of our times with the distinct, unwavering dedication to righteousness that has seen him make national headlines time after time for his many services to Bristol. After a childhood spent in and out of the care system, Lawrence developed an uncompromising poetic voice, which he has used to shine light on struggle faced by people in Bristol and beyond in a remarkable body of published work which now spans three decades. Activist, Educator, community Hero and real-life Dr Hoo (!), his performances challenge, inspire, and offer solutions for change.
Multidisciplinary Bristolian Champion of the Arts Edson Burton, whose mastery of the Writing Craft in arenas as diverse as Poetry, Radio Theatre and Opera has shed light on the hidden stories beneath our feet, and put Bristol on the map for new audiences. Drawing on an eclectic landscape of literary influences that stretches from Keats to Chuck D and beyond, Edson’s work is informed by the diverse wealth of voices that are part of his navigation of class, ethnic and geographic communities. Awarded an MBE for his services to the arts and to the community in Bristol, here is a master storyteller with all the powers of lyricism, empathy, wit and visionary imagination at his command. Expect the unexpected!
Virtuoso verse Pioneer Dave Wynne-Jones, the Poet’s poet of Bristol, whose poetry on subjects ranging from Gaza to the natural world and beyond is celebrated across the Bristol scene and in numerous anthologies in print. Credited with 30 first ascents of unclimbed summits or new routes made on peaks over his decades of experience as a mountaineer, Dave crafts work which is animated with the strength and gentility of spirit of a lifelong adventurer. A true verse Trailblazer!
Stand-up rising star Hannah Streeter, whose off-the-wall takes on the struggles of womanhood and dating in the modern world are sure to have you howling, cringing and possibly even resonating. A recent breakthrough act to the Bristol comedy scene, catch her while you can!
And Chief Rioters Samuel L Cohen and Rob MC join forces once again to host an evening of outrageous high octane fun.
