Tropical Pressure x The Washing Machine at Kuumba Centre

A gig on Friday 16th February. The event starts at 22:00pm.

Tropical Pressure Festival and The Washing Machine Soundsystem present: Dele Sosimi's Afrobeat Orchestra !

Dele Sosimi, the UK's multiple award-winning Afrobeat Ambassador has been consistently flying the Afrobeat flag in the UK since 1995.

His career began when he joined Fela’ Anikulapo-Kuti’s Egypt 80, where he played keyboards for 7 years (1979-1986) and worked and toured extensively around the world. Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was the founder of the style of Afrobeat. The music is a blend of complex but highly danceable funk grooves, Nigerian traditional music (including hi-life), African percussion, underpinning the jazz horns and solos from other instruments, as well as rhythmical singing.

Dele’s pulsating live shows demonstrate his vision of Afrobeat - one that is faithful to the original blueprint, but also clearly bears Dele’s own DNA, expanding the horizons of the genre.

A true pioneer, he is accompanied on stage by some of the best musicians you can hear in the UK right now, serving up an unforgettable mix of grooves over a 2 hour long set.

Dele's full 7 piece band will be joining him, igniting the end of the winter season in style!

PLUS !!! Tropical Pressure & Washing Machine DJs and full tropical festival decor!
