ABOUT AFROOANKALI @camillesaparabarton @afrooankali
AfroOankali serves ritual bass: a hypnotic blend of low end frequencies and polyrhythms which celebrates the legacy of sound system culture and the Afro-Caribbean influence in electronic music. From 2020 - 2023 AfroOankali was the creative director, booker and resident DJ for Emergent Bass, a Berlin based event series celebrating the Afro Diaspora influence in underground club culture. In recent years, AfroOankali had a radio show on Refuge Worldwide called Bass Incarnate which mixed somatic exercises with music that could allow listeners to meditate on Bass weight. AfroOankali lives in Amsterdam but was raised in London and shaped by its sound.
