"Pure alt-folk poetry, pulled into unsettling shapes: Andy Skellam’s songwriting is lush, left field and led by the warmest baritone since Bill Callahan. Get in early for unmissable support from master cellist and chamber pop stand-out Beth Porter. Sublime strangeness FFO: James Yorkston, David Thomas Broughton, This Is The Kit, Adrian Crowley, Seamus Fogarty."

A
gig
held at The Jam Jar
on Thursday 8th February. The event starts at 20:00.
Andy is a Bristol based, alt-folk musician with over twenty years experience writing and performing. His main instruments are guitar and vocals with influences from 60's finger-style folk musicians such as Nick Drake, Leonard Cohen & Joni Mitchell to English Psychedelia.
Andy's third full length album 'Brighten Up The Place'is Inspired by contradicting themes of realist uncertainty & escapist play, it covers topics from loss & eco-anxiety, to sleep deprived new parenthood and romantic escapism. It is a work of strange and layered beauty.
Although often a solo performer, Andy will be performing with a five piece band for the launch (featuring Beth Porter on cello).
“Andy creates intimate worlds, inviting the listener in with the warmth of his baritone voice” - Folk Radio UK.
"Something new and rather good" - Gideon Coe, BBC Radio 6.
"You don't get more soothing than the sound of Andy Skellam's voice... Such a unique guitarist and a pleasure to hear and see. This album is a marvellous balm" Kate Stables - This Is The Kit.
