For this month's Selector Session, we've landed a big one - Duncan Brooker, founder of Strut Records - one of the world's leading labels in the field of 'World' music, both old and new - original crate-digger, record collector and, most importantly, superb DJ and all-round lovely person.
Duncan has been collecting African records since 1994, when he spent several months in Nairobi, at the age of 19, working as a runner for the news agency Reuters. When he wasn't working, he was hunting records, and he's kept at it ever since.
His first compilation LP was released in 2001, and The Guardian newspaper ran a feature about him then...
Since then he's been the lynchpin of the Strut record label, which he founded alongside Quinton Scott, which has released countless (well, certainly a lot) seminal LPs showcasing rare and devastatingly funky music from across the African continent and beyond...
