"When crate-diggers go to heaven, Votel is guarding those wax-lined gates, sending the unworthy back to Rekordbox limbo with a shake of Earth’s most far-out tropicalia 7”. The Finders Keepers svengali is always set to dancefloor stun-mode: packing vital obscurities from synthwave futurismo to Turkish acid disco to proto-rap afro-funk. Enlightened heads and third-eye adventurists - buckle up! "

clubnight
held at The Jam Jar
on Saturday 11th January. The event starts at 23:00.
La Bomba kicks off its new year's season of monthly Selector Sessions with a very rare Bristol visit from the excellent Andy Votel - the man behind the labels Twisted Nerve and Finders Keepers, serious collector, digger, DJ, curator, graphic designer, and so on....
Having built a reputation through his early hip hop crew Violators of the English Language, Votel began mixing psychedelic music with jazz and hip-hop records at clubs like The Hacienda and Home And South from the early 1990s. He is an internationally renowned DJ and has performed at events such as Sonar, All Tomorrow's Parties, and the Green Man Festival. Votel founded the B-Music DJ Collective alongside ex-Hacienda DJ and journalist John Maccready. Other B-Music collaborators include David Holmes, Belle And Sebastian, Edan, Bob Stanley, and Gruff Rhys. Votel has presented shows for Radio 4 such as 2011's Free Wales Harmony, which documented the history of Welsh protest music. He appears regularly alongside Stuart Maconie on The Freakier Zone show on BBC 6 Music.
You can find him monthly on NTS Radio - for ANDY VOTEL'S RANDOMONIUM - and DJing around the world from Manchester to Mexicali.
