A
gig
held at The Jam Jar
on Friday 4th April. The event starts at 20:00.
Antwerp Gipsy-Ska Orkestra are a band of seven musicians from all over the world - each with a very diverse musical background – who have teamed up to combine the pure, raw energy of Roma Gipsy melodies with the ultra-danceable ska groove.
With incredible energy and swagger on stage, they wield a vast variety of styles and rhythms that stretch the boundaries of what we know as ska music, striking melodies that soar with joy and dive with melancholy, improvisational skills to match a jazz combo and best of all… a jolly good knees up.

ANTWERP GIPSY SKA ORKESTRA
Antwerp has, with its rich history and international port, always been a melting pot of cultures, a place where people from all over the world meet and exchange ideas. As amazing as their records may be, Antwerp Gipsy Ska Orkestra is first and foremost a stunning live band that has thrilled audiences throughout Europe, including Ukraine, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the UK, France, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, The Netherlands and of course their home country Belgium. They have even played in Ulan-Ude, the capital of the Republic of Buryatia (Russia), probably the most Siberian part of Siberia.
They have performed at famous festivals such as Dour, Lowlands, Sziget (twice) and Life Festival Oswiecim, and have opened for such legendary artists as Peter Gabriel.
They celebrated their 20-year anniversary in 2023.
BALAMUC
Balamuc are a unique collective of experienced musicians, with 6 members from countries in Europe, the Middle East and them UK as established itself as one of the leading Gypsy folk bands on the live scene today. Their music originates from Eastern Europe but stretches way beyond the usual confines of their genre. They aren’t afraid to step into new territory (from Romania to Hungary via Transylvania!).
Although renowned for their fierce violin and heartfelt melodies, Balamuc are best known as their life affirming, uplifting party spirit and boundless energy. With the name translating to "House of insane’ don’t expect to stay in your seat!
