THE TRUTH ISN'T OUT THERE - CONSPIRACY THEORIES at Hen & Chicken, Southville
See event details

A event on Wednesday 11th September. The event starts at 19:30.

Conspiracy theories went into overdrive in the lockdown and show no signs of abating. Eccentric and intellectually lax mumbo jumbo or democratised truth seeking that subverts traditional gatekeepers? Will deepfakes turbocharge disinformation? Some theories are leading devotees to anti Semitism and climate science denial, but they’re everywhere and we all know someone who went down the rabbit hole online. We discuss the implications for truth and media content control, community cohesion and our friendships in the new era of runaway conspiracy theories.

Host Rudy Millard will be joined by

Brent Lee, former conspiracy theorist

Sian Norris, senior investigative reporter at openDemocracy and author of Bodies Under Siege: How the Far right Attack on Reproductive Rights Went Global

Dr Alessandro Miani from Bristol University’s School of Psychological Science
