Creative Foraging: Meadow Medicine, Wild Gardening at Greenbank Cemetery
See event details

A event on Sunday 8th October. The event starts at 14:00.

For these three creative foraging sessions, we'll explore our inner-city green spaces and show you where to find and how to use wild medicines.

We'll be growing our knowledge of plants and fungi, learning what they look like, feel like and each session you’ll make a medicine for you to take home.

This is a chance to get closer to remedies you may have heard of, empower yourself with home-made medicine and take time to nourish yourself in nature with others.

A little more on your teachers:
- Ruby (they/them) is an artist, a forager, a mycological and botanical illustrator and craftsperson who will facilitate the creative elements within these workshops
- Maria is a plant educator, forager and herbalist who will share plant medicine knowledge

Suitable for any level of experience, including all foragers and medicine makers, friends of fungi and pals of plants both new and old.

SESSION ONE - MEADOW MEDICINE & WILD GARDENING:

We’ll be collecting seeds and sharing how to plant wild plants in public places: which seeds will work well, where to plant them, what to consider in your local area and what to do with your wild medicine once it grows.

2pm - arrive and welcome
2.15pm - 3pm - guided walking, seed collecting, foraging and learning
3pm - 4pm - wild foraged tea, seed ball making, guerrilla gardening info for planting in public spaces

There'll be space to have breaks if you need, you are invited to join as much as you would like, make notes and take photos.

You will come away with new skills and practices to continue on your own and with others.

In terms of accessibility, the walk will take place outside so please be prepared for the weather on the day. The terrain will be easy on foot, mainly paved, but potentially a little tricky for some wheelchairs. Please get in touch if you have any access requirements and we can find a route that will work for you! There will be up to 20 attendees in this session and 2 facilitators.

If you have any allergies, please let us know when you book your ticket.
