JUDGE DREDD Vs DREDD - A Sci-Fi Double Bill at Former IMAX at Bristol Aquarium
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Judge Dredd’s the most cultish, treasured story cycle in all of UK comic book history. Now in the grand tradition of cinema double bills, see both film adaptations back to back in the former IMAX cinema. The original tale of scif-fi dystopian blockbuster justice, dispensed by Sylvester Stallone in 1995 and Karl Urban in 2012. Who do you judge, judged better?"

Judge. Jury. Executioner. Movie icon. British science fiction comic book character Judge Dredd has seen two very different movie adaptations make their way to the silver screen. Whether you think the iconic law enforcer of Mega City One suits the lantern jaw and bulldozer-style heroics of Sylvester Stallone, or the moody, gravel-voiced enforcement of Karl Urban, this double bill puts the two films side by side. You get to decide how well the beloved original source material was handled. Dredd is ready to serve justice, are you?

A special guest introduction, out of this world snacks in the interval and limited-edition merchandise. Doors at 12.30pm, Judge Dredd (1995) at 1.30pm and Dredd in 2D (2012) at 4pm.

Seats are unallocated in the auditorium and these screenings will not fill the full size of the former IMAX screen (but will still look great!). The venue is wheelchair accessible, please contact [email protected] to let us know your access needs.

This event is part of Screens of Matter, a new science fiction cinema development project in Bristol. The project aims to support neurodiverse audiences by creating more inclusive cinema experiences. Although we are welcoming neurodiverse audiences, this is not a ‘relaxed screening’. For more information and for our ticketing policy please visit www.screensofmatter.com.

This screening was made possible with the support of the BFI Film Audience Network, awarding funds from the National Lottery in order to bring this project to more audiences across the South West.

Judge Dredd is a fictional character created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, who first featured in the comic 2000AD in 1977.

This event falls on Remembrance Sunday, all set-up and activities will commence after the 11am, 2-minute silence.

PLEASE NOTE there will be some road closures, according to Bristol Council's website: 'A number of City Centre roads will be closed for the event, between 5am and 1pm. Diversions and a towaway scheme will be in operation during this time'
