Runner Up is a new musical project from Bristol based multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Dave Huntriss. Since 2015 Dave has performed live with several Bristol artists including Fenne Lily, Nicholson Heal, Ellie James, and The Malago Ballroom, as well as releasing music under his own name.
In 2021 Dave became a member of Novo Amor's live band and ideas for a new solo album were put on the back burner to make way for a busy touring schedule. However, between tours Dave started recruiting his musical friends to help him chip away at these dormant songs. This slowly became a much more collaborative process than planned, deserving of a new project with a new name, and resulting in a full album mixed by Andy Monaghan of Frightened Rabbit.
'Departure Fever' blends together influences from indie, post-rock, pop, and americana to form a musical journey full of twists and turns. From big singalong choruses and raucous walls of noise, to delicate story-telling and playful lyricism, all human emotions are embraced in this exploration of the human condition.
(For fans of The National, Frightened Rabbit, Death Cab For Cutie.)
