Blue Mondays with Kosta Burgess at The Elmgrove Centre
See event details

A gig held at The Elmgrove Centre on Saturday 17th August. The event starts at 20:00.

Blue Mondays are proud to present an evening of blues dancing to the tunes of Kosta Burgess!

Kosta brought the house down when he played at our last event in February, and we’re absolutely thrilled that he’s coming back to join us for another Saturday evening special.

He’s an acoustic blues and folk musician from Bristol, drawing inspiration from Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Lightnin' Hopkins and early Bob Dylan. If you haven’t heard Kosta play before, you are in for a treat!

Between Kosta's sets, we’ll be hearing a variety of blues tunes from some of our community’s brilliant DJs.

Bring your best dance shoes, your fishtails and your four corners, your jukin’ hips and ballroomin’ feet - we can't wait to dance the night away with you.

New to blues dance? Great! We’re running a Dance in a Day workshop on the same day - learn the basics of blues dancing in the afternoon, and join us on the dancefloor in the evening!

Workshop details and tickets can be found here: https://hdfst.uk/e111650

Not a dancer? Also great! We’d love to have you - you’re very welcome to come and watch Kosta do his thing (with bonus live dance accompaniment!)

BLUE MONDAYS

We're a community of dancers in Bristol who meet every Monday for a blues dance class followed by a couple of hours of social dancing. Blues is a great way to get into partner dancing - with a gentle learning curve and de-gendered teaching, we make sure there is space for everyone. With a focus on connection and improvisation over very complex sequences of steps, we guarantee that by the end of your first session you'll be grooving to some great tunes on the social floor!
