Goldfinches at El Rincon
See event details

A gig held at El Rincon on Thursday 20th March. The event starts at 19:30.

Goldfinches is a Bristol-based quartet comprising songwriter Shaun McCrindle (guitar and vocal), bouzouki and guitar player John Slattery, double bass player James Anderson, and violinist Paul Meager. The group started out as a trio called Shozzo and their diverse music could be described as alternative or New Wave folk music. Shaun has been writing songs in Bristol bands for over 30 years and has recorded many albums, releasing them under his own name, as Mr Shaun, with Glass Angel, and with Rock n Roll Angels. His songwriting has been variously described as “somewhere between Roger McGuinn and the backwoods gothic of Jim White” and “Bristol’s very own Jonathan Richman” (Venue magazine). Shaun has also played guitar with the Blue Aeroplanes and the John Matthias band. Goldfinches have been gigging at Redcatch Folk Club, El Rincon, Windmill Hill Community Centre, Weston’s ‘Unfold Festival’, The Prince Albert in Stroud, and on board the John Sebastian Lightship, in Bristol. Their debut album, ‘Shanti Time’, was recorded last summer in a country house in Devon and is due for release in the Spring of 2025. You can watch a short video about the album recording on the band’s socials. Facebook@UKGoldfinches instagram - @shaun_mccrindle www.journeyofsong.com https://wegottickets.com/event/645499
