Godthrymm at The Old England Pub
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Epic, crushing doom metal with serious My Dying Bride supergroup pedigree - Godthrymm are heavier than the grave and as ethereal as whatever the hell comes after. Plus support from the Canary Island’s greatest/only gothic metal sirens Scandelion. Essential funeral gloom FFO: Paradise Lost, Crowbar, Pallbearer, Bell Witch, Worm."

In addition to playing as our headliners at the inaugural ‘One For Sorrow’ event in Plymouth, we’re delighted to be able to announce that we’ll be bringing gothic doom metal band GODTHRYMM to The Old England in Bristol on Saturday the 24th of August. Featuring former members of My Dying Bride, Vallenfyre and Anathema, the band’s latest release ‘Demons’ has seen the band go from strength to strength ever since. The band’s unique epic doom metal sound has earned the band slots at In Flammen Open Air, Bloodstock and as support for Crowbar on their most recent UK tour. This coupled with top 20 album nominations by publications like Louder Sound, No Clean Singing, Metal Hammer and Zero Tolerance has seen the band establish themselves as a true tour-de-force of the UK doom metal scene.

Playing as main support to GODTHRYMM on this date we’re delighted to announce that Spanish gothic metal band SCANDELION will be bringing their musical masterclass on the ‘brutally beautiful’ to Bristol for the first time in their career. The city of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria is more famous for sun soaked beaches than it is for extreme metal, however SCANDELION’s diverse and eclectic musical palate shows a maturity and progressive approach to song writing that’s only rarely seen.

Opening our show in Bristol, gothic death doom band OPIA will return to the UK for the second year after touring in support of The Drowning and Denali in 2023. Having recently finished recording for their upcoming debut album, the band will be performing the entire album in full on every date of the upcoming 2024 ‘Ocularis Tenebris’ UK tour.
