London has pretty much the most vibrant Brazilian scene in Europe, and São Paulo-born, London-based, Carolina Lelis, possessed of an amazingly beautiful voice and a sensational stage presence, is possibly the most in-demand Brazilian singer currently in the UK.

She could hardly be in better company than with the redoubtable jazz/world guitarist Phil Dawson, whose inspiring collaborations with a host of living legends of Afro-fusion music span the globe, from Nigerian Afro-beat co-creator Tony Allen, Ethiojazz pioneer Mulatu Astatke, South African trumpet legend Hugh Masekela, Algerian 'King Of Raï' Khaled Ibrahim, and Ghanaian Afro-rock dons Osibisa, to Brazilian musical renaissance artist Eduardo 'Ed' Motta, and singer-songwriter Moreno Veloso, son of Brazilian music icon Caetano Veloso.

Her irrepressible élan and stunning control blend perfectly with his dazzling, silver-fingered guitar playing. And the elite, and powerful, Brazilian instrumental team - multi-instrumentalist Marcelo Andrade, electric and acoustic bass player Matheus Nova, sonically daring percussionist Maurizio Ravalico, and master drummer Marius Rodrigues - propels the soulful dance music.

Driven by a compelling energy and sublime interplay, and with a sound by turns mellow as a warm breeze or humid with the smouldering intensity of carnival, this exhilarating, high-class Afro-Brazilian artistry casts a binding spell.

'Amazing.'
