LIVE AT
COTHAM CLUB
BRISTOL:

THE SHEPHALI FROST ENSEMBLE

A transcendent Indo-British/past-present/music-poetry fusion.

-

A MESMERISING EAST-WEST MELDING OF SOUTH ASIAN MEDIEVAL FOLK, INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC AND MODERN JAZZ, BLENDED WITH CENTURY-SPANNING SUFI POETRY, AND GHAZALS FROM INDIA, PAKISTAN, PERSIA, IRAQ, AND AFGHANISTAN. AN UTTERLY UNIQUE SOUNDSCAPE; A SPELLBINDING EXPERIENCE.

-

A rare opportunity to hear the unique sonics of ancient musical traditions gracefully knit together with a modern jazz sound, and intertwined seamlessly with soulful and mystical poetry into a distinctive and boldly original concert.

Critically acclaimed spoken-word poet and singer Shephali Frost leads a virtuosic ensemble of fusion maestros in celebration of a common space where different instruments, genres and cultures meet. Multi-layered and rich, slow, contemplative compositions give way to vast improvisational journeys, and works of passionate abandon.

'[ Shephali Frost's ] transcendent voice raised the roof at Wells Cathedral.'
Nick Nugent, BBC World Service

'A fearless artist of the highest calibre.'
Mira Misra Kaushik OBE, Artistic Director, Akademi
