A
clubnight
held at Cosies
on Friday 9th May. The event starts at 22:00.
Realist Alive doubles up on the debuting London wunderkinds + genre-bending locals formula to set Portland Square off with 5 hours of tunes ranging from glitched-out experimentalism to overpowering hardstyle.
Synapsefirer - despite barely being out his teens, Synapsefirer (Audible Mania / Rave Repellent) is establishing himself as a gravitational centre for London's next wave of avant-garde electronic sounds. Radio Repellent's been a hub for next-up club oddballs while sets across the city at Trauma Unit/Excalibur, Planet Wax and Audible Mania have shown off a surging talent. With a penchant for anything 160+, incl. hardstyle, jungle, jersey and hardcore, nobody's better built for the peak hour in Cosies' cavern.
DJ 3t13 - for our money there's no more prodigious producer in the country than Etie right now. In the last year he's put out two astounding solo releases, instrumentals for the scuzzy vanguard of London plugg ($lendermane, oatmilkandcodeine), and an unfathomable slew of edits and remixes shifting between gabber, jumpstyle, baile funk and hard-tek. Having lit up London future-sound hotbeds like Trauma Unit, Account Unavailable and Audible Mania, dare not miss this Bristol debut.
Orderly Room - Realist persuades the SNOG heavyweight to recant the bloghouse for a night and make a comeback to deconstructed club. Part of the team that's been putting on some of Bristol's most forward-thinking nights for a minute now, and with a repertoire spanning and exceeding electro, industrial, post-club and grime, RA's ecstatic to get down a certifiable local legend on abrasive business.
Yokel - Avon Terror Corps' arch-alchemist has quietly carved out a brand of industrial-noise-trap drawing on everything from phonk and footwork to musique concrète over the last few years. From his indescrible solo entry Smell of Deer to 2023's Parable of the Empty Cup with local renegades Franco Franco and D.Ham, a trail's been etched of imaginative production that never spares on thump. Realist gets the coldest down to close with a set as unpredictable as it'll be mind-altering.
Nahda - Okay so Flo's just nigh-on the most underated DJ in the city. Batikh's one of Noods Radio's true esentials, and with an adeptness that navigates darkest glitch, guttural trap, plus everything ambient and experimental, a Nahda opening set starts RA003 with purest heat and makes getting down early obligatory.
