Foraging, Resistance, and Reconnection on Land Day
Since the uprising of 1976, March 30th has been commemorated annually by Palestinians as ‘Land Day’ - a day of remembrance, resistance, and reclamation. It felt only natural for the Land Stories team to hold our second gathering on this significant date, honouring its place in the ongoing struggle for land, dignity, and sovereignty.
This event has limited spaces. While we are fundraising - of course - with all profits going to charity (see below), we also recognize that many within activism circles are grappling with burnout, exhaustion, and even despair. With this in mind, we are intentionally keeping the gathering small, creating space to reconnect with nature, replenish our spirits, and deepen our understanding of the long fight for freedom, rights, and respect - for both the people and the land of Palestine and Lebanon.
Guided by Maria of ‘Healing Weeds’ and Ruby aka 'Artist Forager', we will embark on a foraging walk to learn about the plants that thrive in Palestine and Lebanon through their counterparts in our local habitats, exploring the deep connections between landscapes, traditions, and ecology. This is an opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply, and recognize nature’s abundance around us - giving back to each other as we learn together.
About Land Stories
Land Stories is a collective of five women committed to holding space for deeper conversations about cultural appropriation, land theft, ecocide, food sovereignty, climate justice, and the erasure of indigenous wisdom. We create open spaces to learn, listen, taste, and grow, fostering connections that challenge colonial narratives and celebrate resilience.
Our chosen charities
100% of profits from this event will go to:
Om Sleiman Farm (Palestine)
Om Sleiman Farm operates on Area C land, working against military occupation while restoring traditional Palestinian farming practices in defiance of displacement. Closer to the Fallahi spirit, Om Sleiman Farm sees farming as a political act. “The farm to us is a declaration of agency and imagination, and a bridge we want to build between the village and the city. Working together, as folks coming from Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank we created a microcosm of Palestine as we see and dream of it to be."
Buzuruna Juzuruna (Lebanon)
“A haven of solidarity in times of war”, this agro-ecological farm is home to a diverse team of Syrians, Lebanese, and French workers dedicated to food sovereignty and seed preservation. With an extensive heirloom seed library, Buzuruna Juzuruna has recently provided emergency food relief to those displaced by Israel’s bombardment, standing at the heart of self-sufficiency and agricultural resilience in Lebanon.
