The District Showdown is a platform curated to involve and encourage people from all walks of life to showcase their talents, connect with industry professionals and ultimately, give rise to the incredible talent within our community here in Bristol.
The District “brand” is a UK based Underground Music Organisation. We showcase local artists who have some serious talent. However, unlike other events, we are not exclusive to singular genres or formats. The Showdown will consist of three main event rap battles with generous breaks in-between to allow time to head upstairs and check out the interactive zones where you can browse and buy local graffiti art, merch, records and much more.
Once the battles are finished, we will open-up the stage to anyone who wants to spit over the DJ’s tunes in an improv open mic style. So if you’re an artist looking for a bit of stage time but not feeling the battles – there’s your chance!
There will be some mad bars flying on the night and YOU can be the one to help choose the winners by applause.
Winner is funded a three piece EP , recording time and mastered ‼️
We want you to come along, express your art in its true authenticity but of course we must lay out some ground rules:
• There is no Discrimination Allowed
Although this is a battle event, we do not condone any acts of discrimination. This covers Homophobia, Sexism, Misogyny, Transphobia, Racism and Predigism.
• There is no Abuse Allowed
What happens in the battle stays in the battle, we as an organisation will not tolerate any person who becomes mentally or physically abusive.
• There is No Violence Allowed
We as an organisation do not condone any acts of violence. Any Persons found guilty will be escorted off the premises and permanently banned from all The District events.
We are very happy to say these events will be held at an independent grassroots venue. The Cloak and Dagger are a community-interest-company, all profits go back into your local live music scene and help to fund events like this so show some love where you can!
