A
clubnight
held at The Cider Box Tap Room
on Saturday 8th March. The event starts at 20:00.
Bop Thru for a cheeky pint and stay to hear some of the finest local DJs given free reign to flex their multi-genre, no boundaries, rave centred muscles. A new 5er entry night that aims to shine a light on underground Bristol talent. A back-to-basics knees up where the music is serious but the vibes are as warm as the bass bins. Expect to hear bare breaks, bops, bootlegs, bangers and bass, washed down with good booze and new buddies.
The lineup:
Bungzo
Bungzo is a vibrant, Bristol-based DJ whose sets blend high-energy beats and bass-heavy rhythms from the global diaspora, seasoned with queer themes that celebrate sexuality, liberation, and community. As a queer, non-binary artist, Bungzo brings a versatile range of sounds, from the pulsating tempos of baile funk and UK funky to the hard-hitting grooves of jungle, d&b, and jungletek, all within a dynamic BPM spectrum of 70-180. Known for their work with Booty Bass, a crew of female and non-binary DJs dedicated to creating safe, expressive dancefloors, Bungzo has showcased their talent at top Bristol venues like Trinity Centre and Lost Horizon, as well as renowned festivals like Glastonbury, Shambala and Boomtown. Bungzo’s infectious energy and passionate mixing have also been captured in sets for DJ Mag and Keep Hush, solidifying their role as a vibrant voice in the scene.
Alkemy B2B Kimbr
These two are no strangers to DJ booths in random places having been key members of the [dissident] sound system in Bristol, tearing up warehouses, fields and festivals since the early 2000s. Expect to hear a volatile and frenetic blend of breakstep, bass music, jungle and dodgy mashups.
Syla and Nathan Intergalactic
Your hosts for the evening will be laying the foundations with an ‘anything goes’ approach to the first few hours. Bassy, bouncy, broken beats to get things moving while you get into the groove.
