A Fundraiser for the Myanmar Resistance!!
We are proud to bring you the Bristol Laptop Orchestra’s debut performance, with Aphelion and the Ensemble for Liberated Fan Organs!
All profits will be going direct to resistance groups in Myanmar, who are on the cusp of winning their fight against the military dictatorship! The prospect of a liberated, autonomous and socialist Myanmar looms, as to does the possibility of a true post-colonial settlement for the area. It is our duty to support the brave resistance as much as we can, and we are delighted to put experimental music to service in this task.
Lineup:
Bristol Laptop Orchestra- Improvised and avant-garde digital music
For the last 5 months the BLO have been playing together, assembling their new brand of post-everything digital music. This fundraiser will be their first public show, and we are excited to present their take on freeform digitronics.
FFO: Carl Stone, Stockhausen, Pierre Schaefer, Autechre, and just about anything else you can shove in the loose umbrella of the electronic avant-garde.
Aphelion(Psychotherapy Sessions, Organics) Live AV with AEVI
Ethereal gospel-ambient meets distorted warping cyberscapes. The Apheliøn project is a transfuturist experiment tracking the artists own relationship with religious trauma, near-death experiences, personal liberation and the beauty of finding connecting with their community
Live AV with visuals by AEVI (wetware/resonant body) more details to follow.
Ensemble for Liberated Fan Organs:
A supergroup of disgruntled fan organists finally liberating the fan organ from its retrotronic imprisonment as a toy of lofi synth nerds. The ELFO will be playing a text piece informed by fluxus and deep listening. Expect the quirks of these instruments, and the Kino basement, to come to the forefront in this one off performance for an ensemble of these much maligned instruments.
Literature on Myanmar, and a pamphlet introducing the Bristol Laptop Orchestra will be freely available on the night. As will a small run CD of BLO demos.
We ask for a minimum £8 donation, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds on the door <3
