Hedgehog, David & Van Zon at Cafe Kino
See event details

A gig held at Cafe Kino on Friday 18th April. The event starts at 18:30.

We are happy to present another night of eclectic and sometimes contradictory sonic offerings, held together this time by a certain emphasis on play and sound that exists in those grey areas between Things. For this show we have friends from both ends of the country coming to visit for their Bristol Debuts: David and Hedgehog from Manchester, and Van Zon from Brighton. We are also reforming a local structure - the Ensemble for Liberated Fan Organs to play as a new fan organ quartet.

Hedgehog is a Manchester based quintet plumbing the depths of post-folk. Noise, free improvisation and children’s music hide within the cracks of poetry and song.
David is a band comprised of mostly live mouth noises and guitar. David is David Birchall, David McGregor, and David Nina Whiteman.
Van Zon is a Brighton based quintet. They play with an idiosyncratic vocabulary, drawn from folk and post-rock, with the end result being a sound that fluctuates between intimacy and maximalism.
‘the ensemble for liberated fan organs - a temporary and disposable structure dedicated to exploring the outer edges of fan organ sound and performance, returns for its second outing. it will perform Fan Organ Piece #2 by Lucia Della-Savina, a piece for fan organ quartet that makes use of repetition and extended fan organ technique.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions
