Foodies Festival returns to The Downs, Bristol this May from Friday April 12th to Sunday 14th May with a three-day feast of celebrity and local chefs, new food and drink theatres, artisan producers, a Street Food Village, the re-launched Cakes and Desserts Theatre with baking demos from CANDICE BROWN the Great British Bake Off Winner 2016, or stop by the Chef's Theatre for masterclasses from top local and Michelin Star chefs who will share their favourite summer recipes for you to take away and recreate at home.
You can also take a Baking or Chocolate Making masterclass with Burlesque Baker Extraordinaire Charlotte White of Restoration Cake or award-winning Chocolatier Fiona Sciolti in the Cakes & Desserts Theatre, and toast the start of summer with a Champagne, Gin, Wine, Rum or Craft Beer masterclass in the Drinks Theatre. Enjoy brand new exclusive VIP-only food and drink masterclasses in the VIP area, or take part in one of our new Creative Summer Workshops with Vogue featured Food Stylist and Creative Chef Cicely Violet, teaching everything from how to make Psychedelic Meringues to Midsummer Cocktails. With over 200 stalls to peruse at each festival, visitors will be spoilt for choice while they meander between smoked salmon tasting stands, outstanding local cheeses, melt-in-your-mouth brownies, award-winning oils and chutneys, and much, much more.
Healthy Living will be a central theme to 2017 Foodies Festival and will for the first time ever include yoga classes, meditation, mindfulness, talks and cooking demonstrations from the UK's top nutritionists, health food bloggers and healthy cooks, such as Sushi Rolling or Vegan masterclasses.'Ask The Expert' sessions will highlight the latest trends in 'feel good foods' and healthy living, essentially how to have your cake and eat it! There will also be a new Grow Your Own Area, where visitors can learn how to grow their own fresh produce at home, whether on the allotment or window ledges. Visitors can attend fresh produce food demonstrations, tutorials and practical workshops. Learn to forage for herbs to make herb cocktails, or bring those junior gardeners along for activities and stop by the Healthy Food Court to pick up your picnic lunch after inspiring talks on how to get your hands dirty and your fingers green!
Watch grilling experts at the BBQ Arena, or if you are brave enough, enter the Chilli Eating Challenge or learn how to Cook with Critters as part of the 'alternative' healthy living classes. A Childrens Cookery Theatre introduces kids to food and flavours from around the world, and in keeping with the Healthy Living theme there will also be little cooks healthy cooking, with classes on making Rainbow Fruit Pizzas and Strawberry Ladybirds.
After a day of feasting and fun, relax with a spot on the grass and soak in the atmosphere with live music and a refreshing cocktail or a Pimm’s from the Giant Pimm’s Teapot or a Mojito by the amazing unsigned talent music stage with delicious food from one of the pop-up restaurants.
