on Saturday 7th December. The event starts at 15:00.
Join us for an afternoon of eclectic ambient from the Muzak Concrète DJs (Noods Radio) interwoven with tabletop experiments from local ambient artists. A tapestry of cascading synths, bleeps, celestial vibrations, field recordings, earthy drones, ambient and ambience. We make a space for indirect listening and background enjoyment. Bring your knitting, a book, chess set or just yourself and immerse yourself in the music.
This month we are featuring a live set of Perfect Combat's vivid dreamscapes and elusive nostalgia; a vinyl DJ set of ambient space jazz from Steve Watson; and a liquid light show.
PERFECT COMBAT
Perfect Combat is the sonic result of an artist trying to escape a background of the conventional band structure choosing to explore a deeply personal and experimental journey. Rooted in the dark ambient and avant-garde realms, Perfect Combat channels the vivid dreamscapes and elusive nostalgia for experiences never lived, drawing influences from artists like His Name is Alive, Alessandro Cortini, Lawrence English, and William Basinski.
The project was born out of a desire for freedom from traditional songwriting constraints. After years of playing in various bands and navigating the challenges that came with it, a pivotal session at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios revealed a new vision. Perfect Combat emerged as a process-based solo endeavour with an open-door policy for collaboration. Here, the music is not written to meet expectations; instead, it reveals itself organically through experimentation and the manipulation of sound.
With a focus on pushing old technology to its limits, Perfect Combat aims to tap into the deeper recesses of the mind, crafting pieces that evoke a dreamlike state and a haunting sense of nostalgia. The project explores themes of everyday beauty, deep emotion, and the liminal landscapes of the subconscious. Something familiar yet totally unexperienced.
Perfect Combat has published several works in a short time and has been featured on an Industrial Coast compilation and has built a reputation for self-sufficiency, producing a mastering their own material. Collaborative visual projects, including works with artists like SuperKaylo and a visual artist sibling, add a multi-sensory layer to the experience, merging sound and vision into a unified, immersive journey. They are currently working with several other artists, including visual artists, writers and video artists.
As the project continues to evolve, the goal remains clear: to reach new audiences and forge connections worldwide through live performances and collaborations. Perfect Combat invites fans of experimental art and music to step into unique soundscapes and explore the depths of memories and dreams.
