A gig held at Art Club on Friday 3rd May. The event starts at 19:00.


A two-part RnB/Soul night set at The Art Club on 3rd May. With doors at 18:45, you will be welcomed by the Bristol String Quartet playing well-known RnB songs, Cocktails specially curated and named after Milia Maya's tracks and Bubble Tea supplied by the Bristol known Jo’s Tea, alongside a lively Creative Industry networking space, showcasing various creatives in and around Bristol within: Tooth Gems, Art, Photography, Fashion and more!

You will then move downstairs into the event space, with acts starting from 19:35. The main event will be a Milia Maya gig with support from G U Y, Dolli & Luccius + Pab. The second part of the evening be an Open Jam (please bring instruments) followed by a DJ, all while the Creative Industry Networking event continues.

Milia Maya:
Milia Maya is an R&B/Soul artist based in Bristol with a culturally diverse heritage and deep-rooted musical upbringing. She discovered her passion for music at a young age, becoming a classically trained instrumentalist initially, she transitioned into singing and later realised a natural ability for songwriting.

A love for Jazz and Soul, including pioneers: Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder , has influenced Milia Maya's original music style, as well as R&B icons: thuy , SZA and Tamia to name but a few. Milia‘s recognisable and unique sound is elevated through her use of romantic strings, interweaving harmonies and complex beats, glued together with heartfelt vocals and raw lyrics, touching on themes such as love and grief.

Featured as a ‘Showcase Track’ on BBC Introducing in the West and ‘Track of the Week’ across all eight BIMM University locations, Milia Maya reveals her authentic self and aims to create a space for her listeners to feel understood and heard within her music.

G U Y:
Fusing Hip-Hop, RnB and spoken word, Wiltshire born artist G U Y began writing and producing his own music at 16, using his piano background to create his personal and raw sound. He is recognised for his versatility, and connectable lyricism. He draws influence from his favourite artists such as: Dave, Berwyn and Loyle Carner.

Since moving to Bristol, G U Y has continued developing his craft by performing around the city with his band and as a solo act. In 2023 he secured a festival studded lineup, adding stages like Glastonbury, Love saves the day and Boomtown to his CV.

Watch out for this talented artist on the rise as he continues to build his core audience by releasing catchy songs that have impactful lyrics.

Dolli:
British Neo soul singer, Dolli born Adedolapo Ogunrinde, grew up in south london. Raised by 1st generation Nigerian parents, she states that her upbringing was very cultural, with vivid memories of hearing traditional Yoruba music, early Sunday mornings. She takes great inspiration from artist such as Erykah Badu, Lauryn hill and late Fela Kuti, stating that they have ‘opened her mind to the raw freedom and beauty of music’. She continues to build on a sound that she says, ‘embodies a mosaic of accumulated love’.

Luccius + Pab:
Luccius, hailing from North London, is an artist whose roots in music and choir paved the way for his creative journey. Growing up surrounded by melodies and rhythms, he discovered his passion for weaving words together through poetry.

Drawn to the vibrant artistic community of his childhood, Luccius embarked on his musical path by delving into rap, initially expressing his penned thoughts over beats. Influenced by the eclectic dance music scene of Bristol, he gravitated towards mic duties, embracing a diverse range of lyrical styles.

As a multi-genre artist, Luccius thrives on exploration, traversing the sonic landscape from garage/grime-infused tracks to delving into the realms of melodic and experimental RnB. With each composition, he brings a unique blend of influences, crafting a sound that is distinctly his own.
