Come and have a go at playing the Balinese Gamelan, an ornate set of percussion instruments comprising of bronze gongs and metallophones from Indonesia. Traditionally played at Hindu temple ceremonies, the music is sweet-sounding, enchanting and repetitive, often accompanying dance and trance. In this workshop you will discover the playing technique and function of each instrument whilst learning a simple traditional piece. You will also learn about the historical and cultural background of this sacred music. No musical experience is required to play and there are 18 spaces available in the workshop.
Entry requirements: no age restrictions (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult over 21yrs, 1:1 ratio)
