~ Arrival information ~
Please meet us for the 7pm start in room 1R026.
We will be meeting under 18 students promptly at 18:45 on the X block patio by the visitor car park to take them to the room, and will return them to this location when the session has finished.
Overview:
- The sessions are 90-minutes long and have two aims:
1. to provide a safe expressive environment for creative students to practise their life drawing skills
2. to spread body positivity and to gain an invaluable insight into the concept of 'beauty' by appreciating real bodies and seeing how individual, intricate and beautiful everyone is. It's a refreshing break from social media and the male gaze!
- Our models are DBS-checked
- Your nude model will make several poses for the group to draw from, starting with shorter warm ups and continuing to longer poses
- Most arts materials will be provided but PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN SKETCHBOOK/PAPER
- All attendees under 18 (we accept students aged 13+) will be required to have a parent/carer complete a consent form beforehand. Parents/carers are free to join should they wish. It is also possible to wait on campus or in the building.
The session will be led by an experienced tutor, Kate, who is a passionate teacher with over a decade of teaching experience. She is a tutor at UWEBIC and has led life drawing classes within many prominent institutions.
Learning to draw quickly and dynamically from life is a skill that all design students should be comfortable with, so if you are a UWE architect, product designer etc... we hope to see you there!
However, our sessions are open to everyone, whether you are a UWE student or not. If you are visiting the campus, you will need to email Kate ([email protected]) with your car's registration so you can be booked into the visitors' car park.
We also welcome young creatives (under 18) and allow students from age 13+ to join our sessions. Parents/carers must accompany these students to the sessions and students must stay with Kate for the duration. Parents/carers can stay on campus while the sessions take place, or join in with the creativity! A consent form must also be completed: https://www.ourcreativecommunity.co.uk/life-drawing-consent-form
